“Echoes Beneath the Sky” is a poignant and evocative poem that delves into the inner turmoil of a grief-stricken individual on the brink of despair. Set against the backdrop of a somber twilight, the piece captures the raw emotional landscape of loss, longing, and the search for solace. Through vivid imagery and tender metaphors, it portrays the quiet agony of a soul wrestling with the weight of sorrow while seeking divine intervention to either restore hope or grant release.
Echoes beneath the Sky
On the edge of a forsaken rooftop, she lingered,
A wisp of a girl beneath the weeping heavens.
The molten sun bled into the horizon,
Its gilded rays mirrored in her shadowed eyes—
Eyes that held the ruins of yesterday’s loss.
The breeze, delicate as a lover’s caress,
Traced the hollow contours of her face.
It murmured secrets wrapped in tenderness,
Yet her arms hung empty, bereft of warmth,
Cradled only by the aching stillness of the dusk.
She sat upon the fractured asbestos roof,
A ghostly silhouette beneath the falling twilight.
Above, the birds sang hymns of fleeting joy,
But their melodies echoed bitterly in her chest,
For sorrow had entwined her heart with its thorns,
An unyielding shadow cloaked in despair.
Memories, cruel and vivid, surged unbidden—
Of laughter now silenced, of days devoured by time.
The sun surrendered to the grasp of the night,
And with it, fragments of her fractured soul sank,
Lost to the abyss of an ever-deepening ache.
“Oh God,” she whispered into the void,
“Do not abandon me to this unending gloom.
The weight of this darkness is more than I can bear.
Grant me the mercy of a light to guide me,
Or let me dissolve into the quiet arms of the night.”
